Job and Economic Development

As Alderman of the 29th ward, Shannon will create good paying jobs and generate economic development  in our ward, through the recruitment of new businesses and supporting entrepreneurs. Shannon will also work closely with business owners to create a business friendly environment. During these difficult economic times, Shannon will work hard to restore the sense of community by promoting local businesses and employment opportunities. Shannon is also a strong believer in giving a hand up and not a hand out, so preparing residents for employment opportunities is a key component of the job readiness program for our ward. Shannon is committed to helping residents expunge records, create resumes, build interview skills, and job preparation (ex.GED, College applications, trade school entry,  and scholarship opportunities).

Environment and Green Energy

As Alderman, Shannon will promote a healthy environment. This will ensure that garbage collection is timely and consistent. In addition, increase the amount of waste baskets throughout the word, helping to keep our lawns clear of garbage and debris. In addition, Shannon will focus on increasing our green initiatives such as,  increasing recycling efforts, in our ward. Shannon is well aware that green jobs are of high demand. Bringing green employment opportunities to our ward is a top priority for Shannon. Shannon is committed to ensuring that our children grow up in a clean environment and bringing well paying jobs that are non-outsourceable to our ward. 

Ethics and Reform
Like many of the residents of the 29th ward, Shannon has had to work for everything he has received. Abiding by the law and cutting no corners, Shannon believes that an ethical City Government is a healthy City Government. This is the only way to serve the residents of the ward. We need to elect an Alderman like Shannon, who will put an end to corruption. Shannon is committed to promoting a balanced city budget and ensuring that the 29th ward receives the appropriate funding needed to improve our community.



Restoring Unity in the Community

As Alderman, Shannon is committed to bringing back the sense of community in our ward; being the model ward for the rest of Chicago. This starts with building a positive relationship with law enforcement and residents of all ages. This would require more than just a CAPS meeting but, efforts that would build relationships with the officers that protect our ward, making us all feel safe, comfortable, and secure. Shannon is committed to working with residents of the 29th ward to create an environment that we all are proud to live in.

Education Reform

As an educator, Shannon knows first hand the importance of a quality education. Shannon is committed to giving out students the quality education that they deserve. He believes that all students regardless of race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, religious background, and/or any other classification are deserving of a wholistic education. This wholistic approach would include improving our schools with modern technology, comfortable and safe environments, and meeting the specific needs of each school in our ward.
